A personal garden does not need every possible feature. It needs the right places for the things you actually enjoy doing outside.
Start with a few everyday moments
Picture a quiet coffee, a meal with friends or time by the pool. Where would each happen? Use those moments to identify the most useful spaces before choosing features or materials. This gives the design a reason for every area it includes.
Connect the different parts
Cooking, dining, seating and the pool should be easy to move between. Consider the route from the house and the places where furniture will sit. A clear layout can make a modest space feel more useful without adding more construction.
Choose one focal point
A planted wall, water feature or well-positioned seating area can give the garden a clear centre of attention. Look at it from the house as well as from outside. The best position may be different from the first one that comes to mind.
Keep materials connected
Compare paving, counters, timber details and wall finishes together. You do not need everything to match, but the choices should make sense beside each other. A small set of materials can help the garden feel settled and easier to maintain.
Leave room for change
Furniture, planting and the way you use a garden can change over time. Explain which elements need to be permanent and where flexibility would be useful. We can discuss a plan around those priorities during the site visit.
